Easy Rollin’ with Mac
This week, we deep dove into the world of papers. From best burning to best tasting. There’s nothing like taking a moment to sit back, relax, and roll one up.
A Little History On Papers:
Pay-Pay is known to be the first paper ever created. Originating from Spain (not France!) in 1703, it was originally meant for for cigarette-use only. Soon after pay-pay, Alexandro Rizzlet created what’s known today as Rizzla’s.
The composition of rolling papers hasn’t changed much over the years, and various companies are still using different combinations of pulp, hemp, rice, and flax.
Rice (Vibes)
Usually thinner than others, creating a slow burn with virtually no external taste. The only cons for these bad boys is that they’re not good for damp environments, so don’t choose these papers while camping out in the Pacific Rim.
Hemp (Raw)
Oh hemp. The Environmental superior. Who doesn’t believe in hemp? With the option for organic or unbleached, it’s a relatively limited after-taste (Depending on source). You’re already smoking the greens, why not roll in it.
Wood Pulp (Log Wraps)
Might be the most well-known material for more than a century. Wood pulp is usually thicker than other papers, with a medium burn rate.
“This makes them good for beginners because they hold their shape well even with humidity, or shaky or sweaty hands.”
Flax (Zig Zag)
Let’s be real here, Zig Zag’s are the peanut butter to the jelly. The Thin paper is so thin that you can practically see through it, thus resulting in a slow burn for maximum cannabis taste. The flax and wood combo makes for some fine European smoke.
Corn (Smoking Maiz)
Made from natural corn and 100% vegetable gum, these papers are slow burning. The name Maize, also known as corn, was first domesticated by Indigenous peoples in southern Mexico about 10,000 years ago.
